How might your character end up on the Island?: Artie, being the curious type, often found himself wandering the 'secret' basements of the X-mansion. Leech was in a class for controlling his powers and so the young boy was wandering by himself. He ducked behind a locker when Wolverine wandered past, peeking around the corner for just a moment before startling at the sight of a portal behind him. Really, he shouldn't have startled considering the different things that seemed to occur around the mansion. But a swirling vortex is always good for a double-take. But not good enough to keep Artie from inching closer and finally peering into it.
The next moment he was staring around an island, kneeling in the sand. He blinked several times, images of Leech flashing above his head as he slowly stood.
Canon Description: Arthur Maddicks aka Artie is a young boy with a serious mutation. Due to said mutation, he is mute and unable to use words. His communication must be done entirely through pictures. But this hasn't stopped him from anything. With his friend Leech, these two young boys are known in Xavier's mansion for a lot of trouble. Adventurous and curious, nothing stops Artie once he wants to find out the answer to a question. And even less can stop him if he wants to explore. Everything interests him, fascinates him and he wants to know it all, if he can.
Although he's seen a lot in his life, he's still eager to meet new people and see new places. Since harboring an alien in his tree fort, nothing is too weird for him. Artie just wants to have fun and it doesn't matter what he looks like or that he only communicates with images.
